Górnik did not really create many clear-cut chances from open play. The first goal came after some confusion in our penalty area, while the second followed a free kick. Apart from that, the opponents did not have many genuinely good opportunities. How did it look from your perspective on the pitch?

Jordi Sánchez: I think today we played against a very good team that competes in European competitions. They play every three days, and we were playing at their stadium, so we knew from the start that it would be a very difficult match.

But ultimately, our team competed with them on equal terms. That is why they did not create many chances through passing moves or from open play.

Unfortunately, today we conceded two goals from set pieces. I think the details decided the game. Looking at the match as a whole, we can be proud of how the team fought.

Even at 0–2, we continued creating chances, attacking and trying to win the three points. It ultimately did not work out today, but I think we can be proud. Of course, we are not happy with the result, but we can be pleased with that mentality and with how we performed.

Another match and another goal from you. You also had further chances, so you are continuing your good form. How are you feeling on the pitch at the moment?

To be honest, I am at a point now where I am scoring goals.

At the same time, in the first half I had a chance with a header, and the goalkeeper made a very good save. In another situation, it could have resulted in a goal. A few centimetres made the difference, and after a goal like that the whole match could have looked different.

But yes, ultimately I scored again. Today it did not earn us three points, but I am in a good moment and I am trying to maintain it for as long as possible so that I can help the team.

Because the only goal I have in mind is winning three points. That is why, even though I scored today, I am not happy.

After Górnik scored to make it 2–0, we did not give up. We immediately pushed forward and tried to get back into the match. Did the plan specifically call for such an aggressive response?

Yes. Of course, we were already expecting that reaction when it was 0–1.

But that is football. Once again, we had a controversial situation. I do not know exactly what the referee was checking on VAR, but ultimately there was no red card. We were happy with that decision, but later, after that same incident, we conceded the second goal.

However, our reaction afterwards was perfect. Two or three minutes later we scored, and then we created many chances.

The red card also helped us, because we pushed them back into their own penalty area. Ultimately, we had several more crosses, and in a few situations we were literally just a few centimetres short of finishing the move properly. There was Alan’s chance, my overhead kick, another attempt from me, the crosses, as well as James’s shot from around the edge of the penalty area.

That is why I say we can be proud. The team is developing, adapting well to this competition and coping better and better in away matches.

We keep scoring goals because we create a lot of chances. So we have to continue in this direction and use the ball well, as we did in the second half.

We simply have to keep doing our job.
