Will all the players who were available for the match against GKS Katowice also be available for the game against Piast Gliwice?

"Exactly. The situation is the same as before the previous match. Every week gives players who have had breaks a great deal. It is not just about physical preparation, but also participation in training, endurance and understanding with their teammates. These are very important matters. As I said, every week and every day brings players who had less involvement in friendly matches and preparations with the team closer to full fitness," said coach Mariusz Jop.

Analysis after the first match

"The emotional perception of a match, especially after a victory, is somewhat different from the subsequent analysis. Indeed, there were quite a few situations in which we certainly need to improve. We discussed them, passed the information on to the team and worked this week on the aspects that will be most needed in the match against Piast. That is how a team develops: by conducting an analysis and then putting it to use," he stressed.

Was Piast’s defeat in the first match just a one-off?

"We absolutely do not base our assessment on the result alone. We know that it did not fully reflect what happened on the pitch. Piast are a dangerous, highly ambitious team that play bravely. We know that a difficult match awaits us, as is probably the case with every game in the Ekstraklasa. However, we have our strengths, we are very well prepared for this match and we are going there to win," the coach insisted.

Comparison of the last opponent and the next one

"I don't want to compare these teams because they are two completely different sides. First and foremost, the players have different individual characteristics, and the way they play in attack and defence is different. There are a great many differences. Piast are also a somewhat smaller team physically, so their strengths lie in different areas than Katowice’s. If we look at the table from last season, we could also see a difference in potential. I think Katowice are the more mature team. Piast, on the other hand, have quite a few young players who are performing very well. They are an interesting, brave and intense team that likes to attack. We are certainly in for an interesting match," he said.

Will Krakow’s players dictate the play?

"A lot depends on the opponent. Zagłębie is a team that likes to sit back, wait for the opponent and look for opportunities on the counterattack. It's a style of play that brings them results. We'll see what our match brings. We also like to have possession. I think the battle for control of the match will be very important," he said.

Heat outside

"It will certainly be difficult to expect such a high level of intensity as during an evening match. Running in temperatures of around 35 degrees matters and may affect the intensity of the game. However, the weather will be the same for both teams. That makes it all the more important to value the ball and control the match through possession. Whoever preserves more energy will certainly have an advantage," assessed the White Star coach.

Jordi scores in the first match of the new season

"Every attacking player gains something very important when he scores a goal. We know that Jordi got into many scoring positions in his last friendly matches, but he wasn't clinical. I think this goal lifted a weight off his shoulders, gave him extra motivation and confidence. I believe he overcame something that had been a problem for some time. The most important thing in the case of attacking players is that Jordi regularly got into scoring positions. He had the chance to score in every match. Breaking that drought is very valuable for him, but also for the entire team," he said.

"I don't see it as a problem. Sometimes it's a normal process that leads to regaining one's effectiveness. Many strikers go through periods when they don't score for a while, and Jordi was no exception. What matters most is what I said earlier: that the player gets into scoring positions and works for the team. It's also very important that Jordi didn't change his style of play. He didn't start thinking only about himself and about wanting to score. He continued doing what we expect from him in that position, and he also gave the team a great deal in other phases of the game. These situations happen. It's quite natural and normal that such moments occur in the careers of not only Jordi, but many other footballers as well," the coach continued.

Is Wiktor Staszak close to being loaned out by Wisła, and which destination will he choose?

"Yes, Wiktor has to decide that himself. He has probably spoken with the coaches of those teams (Chrobry and Stal), and I think that is important. From my perspective, if I were in his place, the most important thing would be how much a given coach wants me and what role he sees for me in the team. These are Wiktor's decisions, however. He has to feel where he would be better off, because this is a choice of great significance. If this loan move goes through, it would be with the aim of him playing regularly at a higher level than Wisła Kraków's reserve team. So we are leaving this decision to him. I absolutely do not want to impose anything on him, because it has to be his own autonomous decision," he advised.

Raoul Giger recorded an assist in the previous match.

"In our build-up play, Gigi is more often the player who distributes the ball. This probably means he finds himself less frequently in situations where he has to cross. However, in one of our attacking patterns, he is supposed to run into the space he entered in this situation. This was also something we had worked on in training. As for his crosses, Gigi's are of a very high standard. So it was no surprise that the ball was played into a good area and with the appropriate power," he said.

The coach's emotions after the goal were captured by a camera and a photographer.

"I didn't see it because I don't specifically follow platform X or those replays. From my perspective, it was a natural reaction. I am far from staging anything. If that's how it looked, it means that's exactly how I felt at the time. I knew that something important had happened, and that's where my joy came from," he replied with a smile.

Ángel's absence a chance for new attacking options?

"I don't see it in such a way that Ángel was the player his teammates looked for in difficult situations. I think this team is well balanced in attack. Every player can create an advantage through their skills or the solutions we work on in training. Of course, this situation also revealed other leaders. However, one thing does not exclude the other. With Ángel, we can also play in an unpredictable and combination-based way, using not only him but also other players. If a situation arises in which one of the players suffers an injury, it also creates space for those who were previously somewhat less visible," coach Mariusz Jop concluded.
