Summing up the clash in Kielce, the Wisła Kraków coach welcomed those present and shared his thoughts: “Congratulations to the team for playing until the end and believing in what we were doing. The first half was certainly slightly in the hosts’ favor. I think the most dangerous aspect on the pitch was the transition phase. We also lost the ball too easily several times. The opponent was very dangerous in this phase; we knew this was something they were waiting for. In the second half, though, I think we took the initiative and had the advantage. There were moments when we should have scored earlier, because we had several very dangerous chances. For me, the most important thing is that, as I said at the beginning, we played until the end with belief and are taking one point away from a difficult venue”.

Referring to the hosts’ dangerous counterattacks after set pieces, the coach noted: “This transition phase is something of a hallmark of Korona. Whether after set pieces or turnovers in the middle third, they attack very strongly in transition, with a large number of players and at a good tempo. It is their strength. Sometimes, in our buildup, we created time and space for the player with the ball, but our actions with the ball were simply too slow, and as a result we made things easier for the opponent. After set pieces, we have a structure in place to protect ourselves, but there were two or three moments when we simply lost a contested ball, and that led to those attacks”.

Asked about the absence of Patryk Letkiewicz and Jeremy Guillemenot from the matchday squad, the coach explained: “Those two names are the result of Tuesday’s match. They sustained injuries during the game that prevented them from playing today”.

Asked about the expected time of their return to play, he added: “I’ll return to my answer from the pre-match press conference: I wouldn’t want to discuss the details of what kind of injuries they are or how long they will last, or whether they will be available for the next match. Every day means one day less until they can return to the pitch. I hope it won’t be a long time in either case”.

Commenting on another good performance and the captain’s equalizing goal, as well as the incident late in the match, Mariusz Jop admitted: “I don’t even know whether Alan felt those light knocks. But yes, I agree: Alan has been playing very solidly since the start of the season, and alongside the assists he had in previous matches, he added a goal today—a very important, valuable goal that gave us one point”.

Asked whether he felt disappointed after the final whistle or appreciated the point earned, the coach replied: “Looking at the course of the match, of course, when you score a goal right at the end, you appreciate the point very much. But as I said earlier, we had our chances in the first half, and in the second half Kuba Krzyżanowski also had a one-on-one chance where you simply have to give the goalkeeper an opportunity to show what he can do, because it was a shot from seven or eight meters. Nevertheless, looking at the course of the match and how it unfolded, we value this point at this moment because the goal came right at the end”.
