After the 2:1 victory over Śląsk Wrocław, Kacper Duda was a guest on the “Super Friday” program broadcast on CANAL+ SPORT. In a conversation with Cezary Olbrycht and Andrzej Juskowiak, the Biała Gwiazda midfielder spoke, among other things, about the course of the match, his call-up to the Poland U-21 national team, Kazimierz Kmiecik’s role, and his journey at Wisła Kraków so far.

A different match than against Jagiellonia

Wisła once again secured all three points at R22, although Kacper Duda admitted that the match against Śląsk looked completely different from the earlier victory over Jagiellonia Białystok.

"I think they were completely different matches. It seems to me that we pushed Jagiellonia deep into their own half from the beginning, and that match was played on our terms for 90 minutes. Today, however, after scoring, we eased off a little and allowed Śląsk to take control" - said the Biała Gwiazda midfielder.

The outcome of the match was decided in stoppage time, when Alan Uryga scored the winning goal.

Additional motivation before the match

Another topic of the conversation was Kacper Duda’s call-up to the Poland U-21 national team and Jerzy Brzęczek’s presence in the stands during the match against Śląsk.

"We already knew about the call-ups a few hours before the match. We also met the coach at the hotel. It was certainly additional motivation, and we knew that we had to show that our call-up was not a mistake" - Duda admitted.

Poland’s U-21 representatives face matches against Sweden and Italy. The Wisła midfielder stressed that the team has no intention of calculating its chances before the decisive part of the qualifiers.

"Knowing this U-21 squad, we are going to the camp to win six points and finish it in first place" - he said.

Duda also commented on the youth national-team players who were given an opportunity in the senior squad.

"They were truly important figures in our team" - he emphasized.

“Coach Legend”

Kazimierz Kmiecik celebrates his 75th birthday on September 20. In the studio, Kacper Duda revealed what role one of the greatest players in Wisła’s history currently plays with the first team.

"As we all know very well, the coach is a legend. That is his nickname in our dressing room, and that is what we call him. No one knows more about scoring goals, and he gives everyone advice in that regard" - he explained.

The Biała Gwiazda midfielder also recounted the conversations he regularly has with Kazimierz Kmiecik before matches.

"I often have these conversations with him, especially before matches. He comes up to me and says that this is the match today and that I am going to score. There have already been quite a few of these matches, but he still believes. I also believe that soon there will be a match in which the ball goes in" - Duda said.

The road to Wisła

The player from Lędziny was also asked about his football beginnings. He admitted that his father supports Ruch Chorzów and that, as a child, he used to take him to the team’s matches.

"My father is a Ruch supporter. He took us to matches from a young age. It was also the first stadium where I watched an Ekstraklasa match" - he recalled.

His football journey, however, led him toward Kraków.

"When I was a promising player at GKS, Maciek Iwański coached me. He arranged everything in such a way that I am here today" - Duda said.

During the program, the hosts also showed archive footage from earlier conversations with the Wisła midfielder. It included, among other things, his memories of his first training sessions, his footballing role models, and his dreams for the rest of his career.

“I know my worth”

One of the most interesting moments of the current conversation was the reference to comments by Jarosław Królewski, who had previously compared Kacper Duda’s style of play to Piotr Zieliński’s.

"It is clear that our president will always speak about us in the most glowing terms. Personally, I can say that I know my worth. My career at Wisła is somewhat different from that of the other players my age in our U-21 squad. We spent a very long time in the second tier. For practically four years, we fought for promotion, and only now have I made it onto Ekstraklasa pitches" - he said.

At the same time, the Biała Gwiazda midfielder stressed that he wants to continue developing in Kraków.

"I hope that during this year and the years ahead at Wisła, I will simply perform well" - Kacper Duda concluded.
