A trip with history in the background: Wisła fans will travel from Wisła to Kraków through the Czech Republic

On Friday, June 19, 2026, cyclists from the Wisła Cycling Group will embark on a route that this time takes on a unique dimension: 190.6 km by bike, part of the way through the Czech Republic, and the finish line at the stadium at Reymonta 22 in the year when Wisła Kraków celebrates its 120th anniversary. The distance is no coincidence: the number of kilometers directly refers to the year the club was founded.

The expedition, under the patronage of the Wisła History Association, refers to the tradition of the Wisła Kraków cycling section, which operated from 1948 to 1962. This year's edition commemorates Otto Wasiuczyński – one of the section's cyclists and Polish junior champion, who died in January 2026 at the age of 94. The expedition features something new: participants, setting off from Wisła Uzdrowisko, will first enter the territory of the Czech Republic, where the route will lead them past the picturesque Cierlicko Reservoir, after which they will return to Poland and finish in Krakow. This makes the expedition an officially international event.

For years, the Wisła History Association has been involved in initiatives that combine fan passion with the remembrance of lesser-known chapters of the club's history. The Wisła cycling section operated from 1948 to 1962 and deserves to be remembered. We are all the more pleased that in the year of Wisła Kraków's 120th anniversary, the expedition gains a new dimension: it crosses borders and becomes a truly international event. We have once again taken this initiative under our patronage, and the participants' jerseys directly refer to the outfits worn by Wisła athletes over seventy years ago – says Jakub Zalotyński, vice-president of the Wisła History Association, with enthusiasm.

The Wisła Cycling Group is an informal community of cycling enthusiasts and ardent Wisła Kraków fans. For several years, its members have covered tens of thousands of kilometers annually, exchanging route experiences, discussing equipment, and competing in the annual ranking for the longest distance. The group originated in the stands and on platforms such as X and Strava, and currently consists of 245 cycling enthusiasts.

In 2026, it would be difficult to imagine a better pretext for a renewed start. 190.6 km is no coincidence: the club's founding year incorporated into the number of kilometers, almost 900 meters of elevation gain, and Czech views over the Cierlicko Reservoir. This is probably the best way to celebrate the 120th anniversary on a bike. Responding to the expectations of several participants, we have also prepared an exclusively Polish variant, shortened to 160 km. I will personally lead this route and will gladly accompany participants every kilometer of the way. The expedition is not reserved exclusively for those who complete the entire route. Fans who are closer to Krakow will be able to join the group symbolically: in Oświęcim, Zator, Tyniec, or even on Błonia, to ride together to Reymonta. Every kilometer with us counts – comments Maks Michalczak, former spokesman for Wisła Kraków and one of the originators of the expedition, on this year's edition.

The finish of the cycling expedition from Wisła to Krakow will take place at the Wisła Krakow stadium – Synerise Arena. The finish is scheduled for 7:06 PM.
