A Special Pink October! 🎀
"We play for more than the result. We play for every one of you" was the slogan under which Wisła Kraków once again took part in Pink October. Educational materials, screenings, a special club collection, and a stadium filled with pink touches brought the Wisła community together around an important cause: raising awareness of breast cancer prevention and the importance of looking after your health. See how we came together to make this special campaign happen!
W This year, once again, we decided that October at Wisła Kraków would be an especially pink month. We wanted it to be a time when we would speak even more loudly about the importance of breast cancer prevention, regular screening, and looking after your own health. And so began the latest edition of our campaign, with the slogan: “We play for more than the score. We play for each and every one of you.”
On October 1, we launched a video feature titled “I Play for…”. We wanted to show that our players often take to the field thinking of the most important women in their lives: their mothers, grandmothers, wives, or daughters. The players also play for each and every one of you! That was when the campaign slogan was first heard and became a fixture in our October communications.
Throughout the month, we wanted not only to remind people how important prevention is, but also to show that taking care of yourself should be a daily habit. That’s why, together with our medical partner UNIMED, we prepared an educational feature starring a gynecologist and Aleksandra Madej, a player for Wisła Kraków Women’s first team. We talked about breast cancer detection rates, regular screening, and the emotions and challenges that come with a diagnosis.
The next step was to turn words into action. Knowing how important prevention is, we decided to set a good example and invite women who work at our office and school, as well as those who train with our women’s teams, to get comprehensive blood tests. All participants took advantage of the opportunity, while also inspiring others and showing that it’s worth taking care of your health.
As the match drew closer, the statistic 1 in 8 became more prominent in our messaging. That is how many women may develop breast cancer during their lifetime. We wanted to highlight the scale of the problem, but above all remind people not to put off screening. Early detection of cancer significantly increases the chances of successful treatment.
To make October even pinker, we also prepared a special limited-edition club collection, available exclusively for this exceptional match. W The collection included a sweatshirt, two T-shirt designs, a mug, a water bottle, a bag, a scarf, a cap, and a lanyard. In addition, on match day, we included pink ribbons with purchases so everyone could pin one to their jacket and symbolically support our initiative.
Then we seamlessly moved into Match Week, when pink touches appeared everywhere. And match day itself? It was pinker than ever!
We started with a special pink match poster, then took care of even the smallest details at the stadium. Pink flags at the corners of the pitch, the captain’s armband, warm-up shirts featuring the campaign slogan, and ribbons for everyone working to organize the match - everything was meant to remind us of a cause that was just as important to us that day as the sporting contest.
Pink wasn’t just inside the stadium. We also illuminated the outside, as well as the Targi Wisła Biznes area. You, our fans, also played a huge part, joining the campaign in such great numbers and showing up in the stands wearing pink. Just before kickoff, pink artistic smoke lit up the stadium, while pink CO₂ smoke accompanied the players as they took to the pitch.
We wanted our initiative to make a splash and reach as many people as possible. Every piece of content, every activity, and every touch of pink shared one common goal - to remind people that regular preventive care and looking after your health are incredibly important.
To wrap up the month, we also organized a Pink Gathering, featuring Marcel Łubik and goalkeeping coach Łukasz Załuska. The turnout was great, and many of you once again added a touch of pink to your outfits. It was a wonderful finale to a month full of commitment, joint efforts, and important reminders.
This year’s Pink October showed us that together we can achieve so much more. Thank you to everyone who was part of this initiative - the players, staff, partners, screening participants, and above all, you, our fans. For being there, for your commitment, and for every touch of pink!
See you next Pink October. Remember - We’re playing for more than the score. We’re playing for each and every one of you! 💗
