They're back to work! The reserve team has begun preparations for the spring season.
The White Star reserve team returned to work after the winter break.
The White Star reserve team returned to work after the winter break. The White Star players and coaching staff gathered at the Training Centre in Myślenice on Tuesday, January 7, where they will carry out their preparation plan for the spring campaign over the coming weeks.
The first meeting after the winter break in competitions and training began punctually at 1:00 p.m. First, the players and coaching staff took part in a team meeting, after which the footballers underwent anthropometric measurements. The training session concluded with speed tests, which were conducted indoors. Over the following days, the coaches will continue assessing the form of their players—the young footballers will take part in fitness tests, power tests, and sessions on the pitch.
"The first week will be introductory in nature. We want to gradually increase the players’ training load, but before that happens, we need to test them in terms of their physical capabilities," Wisła coach Aleksandr Mikhailov briefly commented.
Twenty-five players took part in the first session. They included players who joined the reserve team from the U-19 side—Maciej Pachel, Michał Prochwicz, Alex Bugaj, Maksym Tsymbaliuk, Dawid Gap, Szymon Kawała, as well as Jakub Madej, Marcin Górkiewicz, Radosław Skała, Arkadiusz Ziarko, Kuba Wiśniewski, Michał Bierzało, Danylo Boiko, Filip Gryglak, Michał Zimon, Kamil Kaczówka, Wiktor Szywacz, Yehor Khromykh, Karol Tokarczyk, Marcin Bartoń, Dominik Sarga, and Kacper Chełmecki. Sławomir Chmiel, Patryk Moskiewicz, and Mateusz Stanek also completed individual training sessions with the physiotherapist.
"We currently have two injured players who still require individual attention. We hope that Sławomir Chmiel will return to team training soon, while Patryk Moskiewicz’s situation still requires consultation, so we cannot provide any details. Mateusz Stanek, meanwhile, took part in a training session with the physiotherapist today because of an illness he recently suffered," the coach added.
Three players currently absent from the training group are undergoing trials at other Polish clubs. Bartłomiej Sowa is being tested by Unia Tarnów, Karol Sałamaj is currently on trial at MKS Karkonosze Jelenia Góra, while Jakub Złoch is training with Noteć Czarnków.
Significant changes were made to the coaching staff even before preparations began. Mateusz Fortuna became the fitness coach, having previously worked with the White Star’s U-19 and U-17 youth teams. He replaces coach Karol Baran and will combine this role with the same position in the reserve team and the U-19 side.
The White Star players will carry out their preparation plan over the coming weeks, with their progress to be assessed during friendly matches. Wisła’s second team will play six friendlies against opponents including Wieczysta Kraków, LKS Goczałkowice Zdrój, Kalwarianka Kalwaria Zebrzydowska, MKF Karvina B, Sparta Kazimierza Wielka, and Wisłoka Dębica.
The White Star will open their spring campaign on the first weekend of March.
