Wisła Kraków returns to its roots. The historic 1911 emblem is the club's official crest
Wisła Kraków has decided to permanently change its emblem. After almost three decades of using a modern version of the crest with slight modifications, the club is returning to its historical emblem, the original of which was first used in 1911.
The new crest will become the official symbol of Wisła Kraków in all areas of the club's operations – from the first team and the Football Academy, through communication and marketing activities, to merchandising and projects implemented jointly with partners.
The decision is the result of many months of analysis and the exceptionally positive reception of the jubilee crest prepared for Wisła Kraków's 120th anniversary. The design, which was a modern interpretation of the historic White Star symbol, was enthusiastically received by fans and the entire community gathered around the club. The reactions showed how strong the need is to emphasize the heritage and historical identity of Wisła Kraków.
The new crest restores a form based on the club's oldest symbols, while retaining their timeless character. It is not only a change in visual identity, but also an expression of respect for generations of players, officials, and fans who have co-created the history of the White Star for over a hundred years.
– Wisła Kraków is a club with a unique heritage and an incredibly strong identity. The return to the historical crest is a conscious decision that connects the past with the future. We want to build a modern club based on the values that have defined Wisła Kraków from the beginning – tradition, ambition, courage, and attachment to its own roots – says Jarosław Królewski, the club's president.
For almost 30 years, Wisła Kraków's crest has undergone minor modifications, remaining one of the most recognizable symbols of Polish sport. Today, the club is taking another step, restoring a symbol that most fully reflects its history and unique character.
The jubilee crest will remain in force until the end of 2026, but we are already beginning a gradual process of implementing the new identity until a full change. The historical crest will successively appear on jerseys, club materials, licensed products, communication channels, and spaces related to Wisła Kraków's operations.
The return to the 1911 crest is a symbolic confirmation that the future of Wisła Kraków is being built on the foundation of its history. It is a bow to tradition, but also a declaration that the White Star remains true to the values that have distinguished it in Polish sport for over a century.
History obliges. The White Star remains unchanged.
