Away Fan Sections – Wisła Kraków’s Letter to the PZPN, Ekstraklasa S.A., and Clubs
Wisła Kraków calls on the PZPN, Ekstraklasa S.A., and clubs to conduct an additional verification of away sections for the 2026/2027 season and to provide advance notice of planned renovations. “Technical” restrictions appear too often just before Wisła matches. The club and its community declare their willingness to help with renovations wherever they exceed the hosts’ capabilities.

Subject: availability of away sections at stadiums used for matches in the PKO BP Ekstraklasa competition in the 2026/2027 season - request for additional infrastructure verification and declaration of support for renovation works
Dear Sir or Madam,
acting on behalf of TS Wisła Kraków S.A., with its registered office in Kraków, entered in the register of entrepreneurs of the National Court Register maintained by the District Court for Kraków - Śródmieście in Kraków, 11th Commercial Division of the National Court Register, under KRS number: 0000130748 (hereinafter: “Wisła Kraków”), I am writing to you regarding the availability of sections designated for visiting supporters at stadiums where matches are played as part of the PKO BP Ekstraklasa competition in the 2026/2027 season.
In recent months, clubs have repeatedly reported infrastructure problems, the need to carry out renovation works or other technical restrictions resulting in the closure or significant reduction of the capacity of away-fan sections, sometimes for a longer period. Wisła Kraków fully recognizes that stadium infrastructure requires ongoing investment and that the safety of participants in sporting events remains the overriding priority.
At the same time, we would like to point out that restrictions of this kind have come to light several times recently immediately before matches involving Wisła Kraków - a club regularly accompanied by a very large group of travelling supporters. We do not prejudge the reasons for or intentions behind individual decisions. We would, however, like to draw attention to their objective consequences: a substantial group of supporters, often planning their trip well in advance, is deprived of the opportunity to attend the match and support their team. This affects both the atmosphere and appeal of the spectacle and may also lead to an actual asymmetry in the conditions of sporting competition.
Guided by the principle of fair play and concern for the widest possible availability of matches to visiting teams’ supporters, Wisła Kraków respectfully requests that:
-
the Polish Football Association and Ekstraklasa S.A. – to consider, within the scope of their respective powers, conducting an additional verification of the technical condition and actual availability of away-fan sections at stadiums used for PKO BP Ekstraklasa matches during the remainder of the 2026/2027 season. In particular, this verification could include confirming the actual capacity of away-fan sections, the validity of administrative decisions, approvals and other documents determining whether they may be used, as well as schedules for planned or ongoing renovation, repair and modernization works.
We also ask you to consider introducing a practice whereby significant restrictions on the availability of an away section for technical or infrastructure-related reasons would be - verified by the appropriate representative of the PZPN or Ekstraklasa S.A. before being announced - so that information about such restrictions is known to the clubs concerned sufficiently in advance and the scope of the restriction corresponds to the actual and current need.
-
Clubs participating in the PKO BP Ekstraklasa competition - to provide information as early as possible about planned renovation, repair, or modernization work concerning away sections and the expected period of their unavailability or limited availability, so that the visiting club and its supporters can properly prepare to organize the trip. We also ask that any restrictions be introduced only to the extent objectively necessary and for the shortest possible period.
At the same time - and we declare this in all seriousness - Wisła Kraków and its community remain ready to support efforts aimed at restoring the full functionality of away sections as quickly as possible. If any club considers that planning or carrying out the necessary renovation work concerning the away section exceeds its organizational, technical, or financial capabilities, Wisła Kraków is ready to support such efforts with its experience, work, and the commitment of its community. A community that mobilized thousands of people in 2019 to save its Club will certainly also be able to help renovate the stand.
The objective remains simple: no section intended for the visiting team's supporters at a stadium where matches are played as part of the PKO BP Ekstraklasa should remain closed or operate at limited capacity for longer than is objectively necessary for safety, technical, or infrastructure-related reasons.
Ensuring the fullest possible and predictable availability of away sections is in the interest of the entire competition - clubs, the competition organizer, broadcasters, sponsors, and above all, fans.
Wisła Kraków remains at your disposal and would appreciate information about your position and any action taken in this regard.
Yours sincerely
Jarosław Królewski
President of the Management Board of TS Wisła Kraków S.A.
