"A lot happened today, both before the match and at the start of the first half. Unfortunately, we couldn't use Alan, who suffered an injury during the warm-up, and the situation doesn't look good. Of course, we will conduct more extensive tests, but unfortunately, the prognosis isn't optimistic. This had an impact on the beginning of the match. Too many simple turnovers, we allowed the opponent to gain momentum too easily in their pressing. We had slightly different assumptions for what we should do in such a situation. Afterwards, there were a few good moments in terms of creating chances. The opponent also had their chances, of course, and on the one hand, we value this point, but on the other hand, we always want to play for the full stake. Unfortunately, once again we had to chase the score, but that's how it is with us lately, we let the opponent feel that they can win against us. Ultimately, we must value this point, because it brings us closer to the goal ahead of us," coach Mariusz Jop began his statement at the post-match conference.

"Unfortunately, it's the knee that was previously injured. During one of the turns during the warm-up, Alan felt pain, and we need to expand the diagnostics to know exactly what happened there. However, as I said, it doesn't look good," the coach described.

Looking at the number of chances Polonia created – is it one point gained, or two lost?
"Polonia didn't have more chances than us. Statistics say otherwise. There were 5 shots on goal each, we had more corner kicks, so I wouldn't say Polonia had more chances. However, too many simple errors from our side helped the Bytom team create those chances. Mostly, these were situations after a long ball or after an interception, after the opponent collected that long ball. As I said, these were situations that we provoked more than the opponent created. Of course, in the first half, they got out of our pressing two or three times, changed sides. There were some dangerous crosses, but nothing came of them. And the goal they scored was ultimately a bit accidental, because James had that ball on his head, and in such situations, when there's a deflection, it's hard to have any complaints about the goalkeeper. Because in such situations, he doesn't really have a chance to react," said the Wisła coach.

"It was an accident. His intention was to block that shot and head the ball away. The ball unluckily bounced off him and went into the goal. You know how it is after a match, these analyses, when to make a substitution, when not to, it's always open for discussion. However, I assessed the situation that James had good moments, and he also had weaker ones. In certain situations, he helped the team, in others, he made mistakes, just like other players as well. I don't want it to sound like James was the weakest player today. I don't perceive this match in those terms. The match was difficult, the whole team worked hard, tried, approached the game ambitiously. We had a lot of chances. Chances that we should have converted into a greater number of goals. Of course, the errors that occurred often resulted from our mistakes in building attacks. The pitch was certainly not easy, because its specific nature here is that at the beginning, when the ball is strongly passed, it still moves relatively quickly. However, over time, unfortunately, it dries out very quickly, and typically on an artificial pitch, every pass, the ball slows down, the bounce is different. We also had some problems resulting from the turf," he said.

Nominal strikers are struggling with injuries. Marko Bozić has taken on the burden of scoring goals.
"I said that when you start scoring, you approach those situations in front of the opponent's goal with greater commitment and self-confidence. It's visible in Marko that he's actively looking for shots on goal, and he's effective at it. I think Duarte also had his moments in attack today. Very good opportunities to score a goal. We scored two goals, the first one, of course, was offside. However, the second one is controversial for me, because I don't know how the linesman spotted it. Unfortunately, there's no camera that can verify it, and the decision from the pitch was upheld. However, it was a very bold decision, difficult to judge whether it was correct or not. But it's a shame, because Joe rarely scores a goal after a whole passage of play, and it's a pity he couldn't celebrate that goal today," he concluded.

"Yes, it was definitely a huge shock. I think not just for me, but for the entire football community. Jacek was a person who took great care of himself, a very sensitive person who was kind and willing to help. I had the opportunity and pleasure of being on the same team with him in the Olympic team, under coach Paweł Janas. Even then, he showed great life maturity and wisdom. Unfortunately, Jacek's death only confirms what we know, that life is very fragile, and that we should also appreciate the moments we have in life, as well as in sports," coach Mariusz Jop concluded.
