Darijo Grujčić played another full 90 minutes for Wisła Kraków in their 1–1 draw with Korona Kielce. After the final whistle, the Biała Gwiazda defender spoke about his physical condition, getting back into rhythm after his injury, and the team’s fight until the final minutes.
Darijo, another match, another 90 minutes under your belt. How are you feeling physically after these demanding games?
To be honest, really good. Everyone in the squad and everyone in the team helped me a lot, especially the physiotherapists, so that I could be properly prepared, because I did not complete the preseason and was not 100 percent ready. However, everyone gave me time, and I think that especially after these three matches, I feel really very good.
How important is a match like this in terms of regaining your rhythm and confidence after an injury?
I think that above all, as a player who is part of the team, you always want to avoid losing. When I look at our team and how we fight until the end, I believe that it is important for everyone, regardless of whether you play or not. To be honest, in this team, everyone helps you be in the best possible shape at all times.
It was 1–1 today, another draw, but it was a difficult match. What was the hardest part of the game?
I think it was especially the first 20–25 minutes, because we knew that Korona are very good at transitioning into attack. They waited for their moments. We were also a little lucky, but later we conceded an unfortunate goal. You have to admit that it was a great goal. What makes me happiest, though, is that we fought until the end, and I am really happy that we earned a point.
You said that we fought until the end. How did you feel after the final whistle? Was it more a sense of relief that we managed to earn a point, or a feeling that we had dropped two?
Of course, before a match you always believe in victory. Three points are always the goal for me, but ultimately we earn one point away from home. Korona are not a weak team at the moment; they do not lose matches. So we have to accept this point and take each subsequent game step by step, trying to get as much as possible from it.
