Tuesday's first-round STS Polish Cup match in Opole brought plenty of excitement and twists. The White Star took the lead through Maciej Kuziemka's strike, but Marko Božić's first-half red card greatly complicated our team's situation. Ultimately, Odra Opole took advantage of playing with an extra man and secured advancement to the next round with two second-half goals.
The match at Itaka Arena began at a very fast pace. In the opening minutes, Michał Feliks ran into the penalty area after a through ball, but after reviewing the incident, the referee overturned the penalty and yellow card for Wiktor Biedrzycki. Wisła quickly regained control and took the initiative. In the 16th minute, after a well-worked move, Maciej Kuziemka controlled the ball in the penalty area and then opened the scoring with a precise shot using the inside of his foot.
The key moment of the first half came just before the break. After a foul in midfield, the referee initially showed Marko Božić a yellow card, but after a video review, he changed his decision to a straight red card. Playing with ten men, Wisła had to focus on defense and went into the dressing room with a one-goal lead.
The second half began with the hosts pressing forward. In the 52nd minute, after confusion and an error in Kraków's defense, Patryk Szysz equalized. Odra continued to press, looking for further chances, and in the 66th minute Michał Feliks made it 2:1 with a powerful shot under the crossbar. Despite playing with a reduced side, Mariusz Jop's players fought until the very end — Julius Ertlthaler had an excellent chance to equalize, but after his run, the empty goal was defended by the hosts' defense and goalkeeper. The score did not change before the final whistle, and Wisła bid farewell to this year's edition of the Polish Cup.
