The upcoming weekend will be the first of three steps on the road to league gold – steps that will exceptionally be components of a sprint, not the long distance that 2024 and 2025 have accustomed us to. The 2026 season will be decided in this half-year, as the rounds have been scheduled for the already ongoing April, May (Wrocław), and June (Bielsko-Biała). 

Such a season layout can be a blessing or a curse. A successful start and high form can provide momentum, and the relatively short waiting period between rounds will prevent losing pace. On the other hand, there is little room for improvement in case of a stumble, not to mention recovery if an injury occurs – assesses Martin Jung, top scorer and best player of the previous league season. 

In the first round, which will be held at the Międzyszkolny Ośrodek Sportowy Kraków Zachód at 23 Na Groblach square, Rafał Kurlit's players – the new head coach of the blind football section – will play two matches. In the first match, they will face Rekord Bielsko-Biała BF, which has undergone significant personnel changes since last year's Polish Cup. The second opponent will be Warta Poznań BF, which lost one of its leading players to Śląsk Wrocław BF during the same period. Both matches will take place on Saturday – the first at 9:30 AM and the second at 3:30 PM. 

One could say it will be a "very" new league season. There have been several reshuffles among our rivals, but we are also undergoing a kind of modernization, mainly related to the staff. We had relatively little time to prepare and implement new systems, indirectly and directly related to training and matches. However, I am satisfied with the positive reception of these changes, and most importantly, of the new staff members by the team, which makes me very optimistic before the start of the competition – says Rafał Kurlit, head coach of Wisła Kraków BF. 

After Dominik Foryś resigned from the position of coach, Rafał Kurlit took over the helm of the section, with Radosław Wójcik as his assistant. Additionally, Maciej Pluta joined the staff to support Dominik Jurasiński – the goalkeeper coach, who has also recently been involved with the women's section of Wisła. 

In addition to new faces on the staff, there's also a new player. Krzysztof Suchocki, who played for Śląsk Wrocław BF for years and reinforced the ranks of the debutants from Lublin during the last Polish Cup, has transferred to Biała Gwiazda BF. He will wear number 81 for the section, and his nickname, "Szpenio", will be displayed on his back. 

Although Biała Gwiazda BF will play only two matches in the opening round, the task does not sound particularly easy – all due to the injuries that have been plaguing our section's players for some time. 

At the moment, as many as five players do not have the green light to return to the pitch, which is a significant hindrance for all of us. As physiotherapists, we are doing everything we can so that the guys can rejoin the team as soon as possible and strengthen the bench, which may partially happen before the second and third rounds. Without a doubt, their returns will be a kind of "transfers". However, we cannot force anything – explains Marek Żychowski, the section's head physiotherapist. 

Krzysztof Bednarkiewicz (goalkeeper) tore his Achilles tendon in August 2025, Paweł Zinkow tore his ACL in June 2025, Marcin Pajor is struggling with an ankle sprain, and Mateusz Krzyszkowski with chronic Achilles tendinitis – although the injuries sound serious, there is a good chance that all four will return to play this season. At the moment, Michał Woszczak, who underwent foot surgery some time ago, has the least chance of returning. 

At this point, we can only wish our colleagues health and fight for league points without them. We hope that they will quickly rejoin us and support us in subsequent matches. Our goal has been, is, and will be to win, but we must remember that everything we do here is our passion, and we cannot prioritize it over the aforementioned health and daily life, where we have families, study, or work. This does not change the fact that we love what we do, and regardless of the squad situation, the schedule of individual rounds, or the weather, we will fight to be able to hang gold medals around our necks again in June. – concludes Marcin Ryszka, captain.
